Does Any Body Go To General Dentist For Orthodontic Treatment?
Lot of my friends go to general dentist for ortho treatment. His charges are minimum like $4000 for full treatment. He didn't semm to be certifies by American Association of Orthodontics, but he has lot of experience. We live in northen California, south Bay area.
We went to 2 ortho consults and got price quotes of $5250 and $7,750. Is this cost sounds fair?
We want to go to General dentist who I mentioned above, but afraid to go.
My daughter has class 2 division 2 malocclusion. and lower jaw far back than the upper. Is there any cases like this treated by General dentist?
If I consider going to ortho ? Can somebody suggest good ortho who charges fairly in south bay , California?

If the general dentist you described is not also an orthodontist he is not legally allowed to perform orthodontic work. Orthodontist’s go to dental school for an extra 2 years after graduating as a general dentist to study ortho and graduate as a orthodontist. I would not recommend seeing a general dentist for ortho work especialling if he is not an orthodontist. By going to a licensed orthodontist you will get better treatment and better results even if it is more expensive.
That dentist should be reported to the ADA. Your daughter needs to see a REAL orthodontist. Especially if she has malocclusion. Why would you risk your daughter’s teeth–for the rest of her life–to someone who isn’t had orthodontic training?? To try and save a few bucks?
