ANY patient having a root canal MUST ask. You could have life altering health problems like a permanent numb & horrific burning lip.chin, a jawbone eaten away & rebuilt from leg parts. I’ve always wanted to be a Dental Hygienist but I’m terrified of the dentist! i don’t know what it is about the chair that makes me squirm. When I was there the last time I had 4 cavities! My appointment to get them filled is tomorrow, can anyone show me there’s nothing to be afraid of??
Back side pic of your teeth??? WTF does that mean. You have an x-ray source, a tooth, and film. How is that gonna get the back side of anything. I should know, since I am a dentist and all.
I hate taking the x-ray pictures because, you always have to put that piece in your mouth and it makes me gag when they try to take the back side picture of your teeth.

Firstly you'll be fine i know nothing will stop you from worrying right now but seriously you will be 100% fine.
I was in the exact same position as you – FEARED of the dentist but i was in so much pain i just had to go.. i went (hadn't been for five years) knowing that i possibly needed a tooth out.
When i arrived at the dentist they put me at ease and i explained that sitting in the dentist chair was more nerve racking than when i went into theatre to have my tonsils out and they were sympathetic as this is there job they just told me to relax so i just shut my eyes and thought in a few mins it will all be done.
It turned out i had my tooth out there and then and it wasn't as bad as i expected, the dentists were gentle and more importantly i had my teeth sorted and checked out, you will feel so much better after it, i did, not having the burden on your back to need to go. Just look at it this way, if it wasn't for you needing to go to the dentist, they would be unemployed, it is their job to do what they do and they see cases every day, it's nothing to be worried about.
I now wish i would have gone to the dentist earlier because i could have saved my tooth by having it filled but thats a lesson i've now learnt, i feel much better knowing my teeth are ok now and i have another checkup due in may which i'm not worried about at all, i expected trouble too, i ended up having two teeth out and i'm fine.
I assure you that the dentist will be fine, just raise your concerns that you are petrified of the dentist and this is the reason you haven't been and hopefully (well they will) put your mind at rest, it's not worth risking dental problems, your teeth are with you for life, a dentist appointment isn't!
Well this isn't gospel but my thoughts were that if some one is on a horse above you and brought a sword down you pretty much need to be covered as the top of your head and shoulders are going to be easy targets.
