Can a dentist in General Practice perform endodontic procedures…?
and if so would he/she have to have had specialized schooling? This is in the State of Florida. Endodontics refers to root canals and related procedures.

Once a dentist has received his/her DDS or DMD degree they are allowed to do any dental procedure. One does not need special training to do run of the mill endodontic cases.
I enjoyed endo and got very good at it and people sent me referrals because I was skilled and did not charge the prices of the endodontic specialists. There were cases however, which I would not tackle due to their difficult nature. That is why we have specialists, to handle the special cases.
